Grief & Bereavement

'Grief is not a disorder, a disease or sign of weakness.
It is an emotional, physical and spiritual necessity,
the price you pay for love. The only cure for grief is to grieve.'

-- Earl Grollman

Grief is an emotional response to loss. There are different reactions to different types of loss.  Grief will affect everyone in varying degrees over a lifetime. It is a normal personal human response to change and loss.  It is unique for each person and no two people will grieve in the same way. It is a process of adapting to loss. When someone you love dies the process of adapting to his or her existence in you life is on going.  The love and bond never dies. It is always in your heart.

Bereavement is a universal and integral part of our experience of love.

It’s important to allow yourself the time to mourn after the death of a loved one. Bereavement is often referred to as a state of loss after someone close such as a family member, friend, neighbour, colleague has died. Bereavement can also be experienced after other life event losses, such as an ending of a long term relationship.

End of Life Support

Having an independent person sitting with you, sharing your life stories and sometimes just being with you are the real heart and soul connections

Palliative Care/End of Life Counselling

Living with a serious illness can be emotional, mentally and physically challenging, both for the individual and for family members. It takes you on a roller coaster of change and emotions.  Being able to discuss your concerns and change of capabilities enables you to adapt to what is occurring and provide you with an internal connection to self – which can bring a sense of peace.  As Dr Rob Gordon says ‘Language is the digestive juice of the mind’.

Change, Loss Grief and Bereavement has the potential to break us, but it also can help make us stronger than we humanly thought possible.
